I really loved this game! I really liked all the details on each day, and how things seemed to change, and her comments when interacting with objects; I love games like this that change up the atmosphere, it really adds to the horror aspect. I'm looking forward to playing the rest of your games as well!

Thank you so much for your kind words! It was really fun writing in all the details and making it more unhinged as the game went along. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and hope you have a blast playing the rest! The story builds up clues from game to game, so some things are foreshadowed in TWSTM for later entries and the cycle keeps going.

(+2)

People are still talking abt this game to this day, kinda crazy ngl

Thanks! Yeah I'm really glad it lives on in others' imaginations so much, I had no idea I'd get this far when I started but it's been a great time!

(+1)

Great atmosphere, I had to watch the screen through my fingers in several parts lol. Will be playing the next game with a friend for emotional support XD

Haha GOOD

(+1)

This was a great game. It was nice to see where this series all started.

(+1)

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! It's kind of cool you got to experience a whole different perspective going backwards, like seeing Jesse look down around wells in the other games and wonder what's up with that and-here it is XD Thank you so much for doing let's plays of all of them and sharing my stories with the world!

(+1)

found the easter egg 10/10 game

YEAHHH BUDDY

(+2)

this game gave me several heart attacks lmao I loved the plot and the utter deranged nature of Alice made me fall in love with the game the first 10-15 minutes of playing. keep up the good work!!!

(+1)

So glad you enjoyed it! I take a lot of pride in writing characters because to me they're the heart and soul of the game! Thanks for the encouragement, more on the way ;)

(+1)

I absolutely love this game. Saw Manly's playthrough of it a year ago and decided to play it myself, and what better day to do so approaching Halloween.

Alice is a great character, considering the fact that the player only witnesses her last few days of her life it puts a lot of perspective entirely through environmental storytelling and her own comments. Doing so you get a sense what type of person she is without any backstory. I wonder if she always was like this before the well's(?) or the other evil influence that washed over her.

The sound design - it really does well to accompany each day's activity and atmosphere with fitting musical track, becoming worse and worse as days go on.

The artstyle - probably my favorite part about the game. I absolutely adore your artstyle, it somehow blends the cute expressions along with horrifying ones.

The story itself, despite being such a small and secluded location there's so many questions regarding what events transpired here and I really wish the game was a bit longer. Part of me wanted to save Alice by managing to repair the car somehow haha.

Also I'm proud to say that I found the easter egg! When you said that it's "It's extremely hard to find" I thought I wouldn't be able to find it, but alas I was able to. And reading your own thoughts there I do understand where your frustrations can come from when players don't interact with object despite it being the entirety of the game. Well, at least in my case you don't have to worry about that because I inspected everything in the game twice if not more, I don't think I missed a single thing.

There were however a few things I was let down by and that's the inability to interact with apples and other objects, like the shovel/oil etc. I think it would be awesome to add a few monologues if you decide to eat the various kinds of apples or use the shovel for something, and so on.

But overall this game is definitely one of my favorite horror short games out there. And it has always been in my mind ever since I saw it.

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed and encouraging comment, that means a lot to me! I’m glad you like most of the elements-especially the artstyle, I used to draw comics before I started making games so it’s really close to my heart! As far as the story length, I was making this game for a game jam and one of the rules was it had to be around 20 minutes. But I think that’s a great idea, and maybe some day I’ll add an update for a potential good ending! (Another highly requested feature is letting the players explore upstairs.)

And great job!!! I’m really impressed that you found the secret on your own, that takes so much dedication! When I built it into the game I was wondering if anyone would even be able to find it at all <XD And good idea on the items too, I should add that! Maybe the bad apples can poison you or something…

I’m honored that it’s one of your favorite horror games, and so happy Manly was able to introduce you to it! I loved his playthrough videos so much. Once again, huge thanks for your kind comment, I loved hearing your detailed thoughts and you gave me some good ideas!

(+1)

You're very much welcome! Thank you too for taking time out of your day to respond to every comment here, including my own, it's very heartwarming.

I see! I didn't know it was part of the game jam, that would make a lot of sense with time constraints.

And if you do add a potential good ending, dare I suggest that it would be better to make a "remake" of sorts, instead of updating this game? With more interactions/dialogue options and upstairs location and the multiple endings themselves.

Haha, obviously that's just a bold suggestion knowing how much work that would take. That being said I'd love to see any expansion someday! So I'll wait patiently whether it comes to life or not.

Thank you, well to be honest it just took some keen observation from myself and the willingness to interact with everything available (as intended).

Regarding the apples, yeah I was surprised they're non interactable and just an item in your inventory, so I do hope you add this feature someday! No pressure though.

Thank you too for responding and making the game! I'm glad I was able to inspire you in some way! I really do have a lot to say about the game.

Great idea, a remake would be awesome! I’ll give it some consideration. And thanks again, I appreciate the attention to detail that went into your playthrough! I make games because I want to share these stories so it means a lot when people care about the world enough to look at everything. And haha yeah, time to make the apples a bigger threat XD It’s funny in a game that otherwise has no deaths that the apples of all things could hurt the player but like… it’ll be totally worth it! (Maybe I should add more hazards too.)

You’re very welcome, it was my pleasure reading through your thoughtful comments! Feel free to message me on Twitter or join my discord if you want; I’d love to have you!

(+2)

That was a nice horror game. Good thing you focused mostly on the atmosphere and not on the jumpscares, as, in my opinion, it would ruin the experience. The unsettling images and music only add up to the horrifying game's atmosphere.

On a side note, would you be interested in polish translation?

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I think a jumpscare is a good way to catch the player off guard or add a crescendo to mounting tension, but not enough to carry a game by itself.

And yeah, that would be awesome! Feel free to message me on discord or twitter, and if those don't work for you just reply to this comment with a way to contact me you'd prefer. Thanks!

I really liked this game overall. It's both creepy and interesting, and I love the use of "press Shift to run" as a kind of meta-scare. Plus, as a cyclothymia sufferer, the differences in the weather and the character's moods from day to day were something I could relate to strongly.

With that being said, though, I really didn't enjoy the general way the game associates mental illness and murderousness. There is a massive stigma against mental illness sufferers in real life because of works that lean on these tropes, and to make matters worse, the game falls into the trap of associating specific symptoms (unstable moods, smiling at inappropriate times) with being prone to murderous violence. It's not so much of an issue with the actual horror portraits, but when it's just the main character smiling over something she shouldn't, I get strong "generic murder mental illness" vibes.

I don't think the plot is irredeemable, to be clear. But it would have been better if it leaned less on ableist shorthand and more on the fact that this girl has clearly been poisoning herself with the well water and her symptoms are probably stemming from that.

ETA: I also really appreciate you putting up a Linux build! A lot of devs overlook that and it's something that's always nice to have.

!---Spoilers Ahead---!

Thank you for taking the time to write detailed feedback, I’m glad you liked the game and that the weather changes resonated with you! And haha, the run bit is one of my favorite parts to watch in lets plays because it really gets people to panic!

I definitely see what you’re saying about mental illness and murder tropes, and that was not my intention. While the story’s open to a lot of interpretations and all players’ visions for it are valid, the intended canon is that the Husk (monster in the window/basement/final day) used supernatural influence to drive her insane and murder her family. The guilt makes her even worse (also the in-game reason she won't go upstairs), in a vicious spiral.

Hope that helps, and thanks again for reaching out with your concerns! Also, very welcome on the Linux build-thankfully the RPG maker engine made it easy to output.

this game is very unsettling and creepy, either it be the mc, her commentary and music, i had to turn it off after 3th day! it was very fun and spooky to play this, definitely one of my favorite horror games there. (and that guitar crime on the book-

(+1)

I'm thrilled it was able to scare you that bad, and it's awesome that you're investigating all the details and finding the stories! Some of them will have clues for later in the series ;) Thank you so much for playing and taking the time to write a a kind comment, that gives me a lot of encouragement! As for having to put it down, maybe you could see how the rest of the game plays out by watching a youtube walkthrough? (AND YES THAT ONE WAS REALLY FUN TO WRITE XDDD)

(+1)

ahh I am looking forward to your next games!! they are so good and you are very talented at writing <3. I thought the guitar crime was real at first 😭

(+1)

Awww thank you so much, I'm so glad you like them! And haha it sounds like something a serial killer would do, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's happened somewhere before X-X

(+1)

fun game!

(+1)

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I hope you stick around for the others and see where the story goes!

(+2)

This game is creepy AF, I loved it! The atmosphere is beautiful and unsettling, deeply unsettling. Thank you for the story, the mystery of what will come, and the creeps!

(1 edit)

Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it and took the time to leave an encouraging comment! It means a lot. Believe me, the story is only just the beginning >:D Each game is like a piece to a much larger puzzle, and so far I've made three-working on a fourth. I hope you stick around for the others and enjoy them as well!

(+2)

2 More days & I just couldn't go on this game is creepy AF!  Idk why this game reminds me of what life would be like after life!

Whoa :0 That's some really high praise considering it's a horror game, thank you so much!!! I'm glad it was able to scare you that well, and if you ever want to see how the rest of the story plays out, maybe you could watch a youtube video or something^^

(+1)

This was such a creepy game. I loved the psychotic break of the main character and how she degraded over time. Keep up the great work!

Wow I'm thrilled it left a strong impression on you! Thank you so much for the video and the kind comment, I really appreciate it! Haha No Frills Just Chills is a great line by the way XD

(+1)

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the game! The tense build up of the first 3 days was pretty well done! I also like how the clues start to unravel each day and find out what has been actually going on the entire time. Would like to see what is at the top of the stairs

Thanks, I'm so glad you liked it! And thank you for making a let's play video as well, I'll go watch it! The reason there's nothing at the top of the stairs is because I was making this for a game jam with a 20 minute time limit. (I think I went over anyway, but still had to stick as close as I could!) That said I think it would make a good update for the future ;)

(+1)

here's my video.

Oh awesome, thank you so much for playing my game! I hope you enjoyed it and got some good scares >:) I'll go watch your video, sorry for getting to this so late!

(+2)

Really good game, i enjoyed the fear of the unknown factor and how things were slowly building up. My favorite from all three.

(+1)

Thank you very much, I'm so glad you enjoyed it :D I'm also glad that you played all of my games so far, it means a lot!

(+2)

this was pretty cool. i liked the expressions. im gonna go play the second game in the series now.

Awesome, I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Hope you have good fun and good scares with the next game as well!

(+2)

oh wow you replied! wasnt expecting that. i hope you finish the third game! (i havent played the second game yet sadly lol)

No problem, I love getting to talk to everyone who plays my games and get your feedback! No worries about the second game, absolutely feel free to take it at your own pace. And have I got good news for you: the third’s already finished, and the fourth is on the way XD

Oh damn! Well, then I mean the fourth one!!

Yes, she's that cool...

(1 edit) (+2)

Absolutely love this game! honestly i keep playing it all the time just because its amazing! would love if one day we could explore the upstairs that would be soo cooool

Thank you very much, I'm so glad you like it!!! Especially enough to play through it multiple times, that's wonderful! The reason there's no upstairs area is because when I was making this game for a game jam, it had to be about 20 minutes long (I think I still went over... but adding stair sections would have pushed it). That said I'm considering adding a playable upstairs at some point in the future! Thank you for the kind words, and I hope you enjoy my other games as well!

(+1)

It's amazing what you did in such little time i look forward to whatever work you do in the future! i do love the other games just as much keep up the amazing work!!

Oh thank you so much, that's very encouraging to me!!! I've been an artist my whole life but only somewhat recently was able to begin sharing my stories with the world through games, and it means a lot that you love them! I'm trying to build up a really cool series and with each game I learn how to do more-I hope the upcoming one knocks your socks off XD Thanks again for taking the time to leave a kind comment!

a cute character,i like it

Haha thank you, I'm so glad you like her! She was really fun to design, especially when her expressions get more bizarre later in the game XD

(+1)

Hi, great game!! How long did it take you to make this game? Did you do everything by yourself, or was it a team?

(+3)

She did everything by herself

(+2)

Thank you! It took me a month, but with serious crunch cause I had to make a deadline for a game jam! And yeah I'm a solo dev so I made it myself, though there are assets I found online or bought such as music and tiles. I'm glad you like it-and sorry for the late reply!

(+1)

How many endings are there?

(+1)

Hi there, and good question! This game has one ending, but the next will have two! Third (LVBTT) has one also but the upcoming fourth game will have 3!

(+1)(-1)

Ok thanks a lot

(+1)(-1)

No problem, glad I could help! Thanks for reaching out :P

(+1)(-1)

🖖

(+1)(-1)

U ok?

(+1)

what engine did you use to create the game?

(+1)

RPG Maker MV! I used it to make all three games-but now for the fourth one I'm working on, I've been using a newer version of the engine called MZ. I recommend both (they're almost the exact same though so MV if you're on a budget), it's helped me a lot since I don't know how to do the hard coding yet!

(+1)

thank you!

(-1)

No problem, hope you have fun making your very own games!

(+2)

this drawing styles remember me the good old 2016 i love it

(+1)

Oh thank you so much, that's so awesome for me to hear XD I got a lot of inspiration to make games from those classic RM horrors and the 'creepypasta' internet culture in general, so it makes me glad that this makes you nostalgic of it!

(+1)(-1)

im using my mac and the game crashed after a few seconds in

(+2)

Sorry to hear that! I don't have a mac so it's hard for me to know the details but basically there are two versions; one is compatible with rpg maker games and the other one isn't. Sounds like you have the latter, so I would recommend using an unbottler program to play it!

(+1)

The game is so creepy, and each daily change was really well done, especially with the steady increase in creepy moments. I did find it funny pushing the ghost back into the sewer. I absolutely loved the visuals of the character, it’s those little moments which stood out the most, like where she drank the oil. It really makes you wonder what was going on for the girl and what led up to the game's moments, especially with that shadow in the window getting closer.

Already played the second game, I’m definitely going straight on to play the last one too.

Wow, thank you so much for playing my game and I'm absolutely thrilled to hear you love it so much!!! I anticipated some players would be brave enough to go up to the thing in the sewer, so I made sure something would happen for it. And haha yeah, designing her dialogue busts was one of the most fun things about development XD  Well awesome, I'm going to check out that video right now, and I hope you enjoy the other games just as much-they're all part of an interconnected story, which is only just beginning!

(+2)

Oh my, this is so crazy I loved it :D

(+1)

Hey, thank you so much for playing my game and sorry I didn't get to this sooner! I love the video and I'm glad you took the time to investigate details like the painting and how it changes each day-and should you ever revisit it, I highly recommend you check out the window as well >:3c

(+3)(-3)

This game is fun, but sadly not too scary

(+1)

Haha well at least it was fun for you then XD Horror is pretty subjective so I totally understand if this wasn’t up your alley. Thanks for trying it out though!

the game is fun, but why is there no android version?

Thank you! And there isn't an android version because of software compatibility issues from new updates, but I do eventually hope to find a way around that. Sorry for the inconvenience! I just don't know of a way to port it yet, hard coding isn't my specialty. That said I'm glad you're still enjoying the other versions, and if you have any other questions, let me know!

(+2)

It was really fun! I love games like this- RPG maker games, and games with subtle differences with each passing day! Can't wait to play the other two!!

Thank you very much :D I had a lot of fun building up the tension while being able to have Alice say the most off-the-wall things XD I'm glad you're enjoying it-and I can't wait to see what you think about the other two! Enjoy :)

(+3)

you know. was it smart of me to do this drunk? was it smart of the main character to do what she did? idk man but i love this game and it now holds a special place in my heart. looking forward to the next game in the series!

PS: this is my first drunk let's play. maybe you will laugh and maybe you won't but it should be fun either way
(+1)

Both valid questions 🤔
Thank you so much for playing my game! I loved part one and it sounds like part two is going to be even more wild XD It makes me so happy to hear my game has a special place in your heart; I worked with a lot of passion on it and it makes me proud it resonates with you! I can't wait to see how this video turned out-and looking forward to the next ones as well!

(+1)

i'm chopping it up into a two part series on my channel. i am intrigued yet confused. something is amiss and i will find out what

Ooh I like that idea! Thank you for playing my game, I can't wait to see how you react-and the next part as well XD (I like the thumbnail too by the way) I'll go check it out now!

(+1)(-1)

Thoroughly scary throughout my experience of this game! I'm well invested for what awaits next...no puns intended! ^o^

Thank you so much for playing my game!!! I'm so glad you got a good scare out of it-and I can't wait to see for myself XD Thanks for letting me know, I'll go watch it now!

Um how to unzip this game at iOS?

i want to play it at my iPad

Hmm, I don't have it so I don't know how to test it myself, but from what I understand I think you need to go into your files, search it up and "uncompress" the zipped folder. After that, go in and the application should work-but if it doesn't, by all means let me know and I'll try to fix it! Thank you for reaching out, hope that helps :)

(+2)

My first time playing this kind of game, really interesting and such a good game! ❤

Thank you so much, I'm very glad you played my game :D And also happy to hear that you enjoyed it, thank you! I'll go check out the video now!

(+3)

I put this game on my video about 10 Best RPG Maker Games on JoiPlay Emulator If you don't know what JoiPlay is, JoiPlay is a Emulator to play RPG Maker games on Android

Thank you so much for featuring my game! And thank you for putting together an emulator-all of my games have been suffering compatibility issues with Android for some time now! And I'm not good at any coding (yet?) so I wasn't able to fix it on my own. I really appreciate both the feature and JoiPlay, this is great news so thank you :) And Merry belated Christmas!

(+1)

You're welcome I'm glad I could  help and Merry Christmas

(+1)

danggg this was amazing! i loved it! very spooki indeed, my friend recommended me this game, at first he was laughing when i was scared but then he gets even more scared than me near the end heh :p

(+1)

yooo! i saw you from manlybadasshero!

i was at first, deterred by the art style, but like manly said, it really works! actually gave me the creeps at some point! i can't wait for the third game in the series. :)

Thank you! Haha my art style is a bit janky and I still have a lot to learn, but I'm glad you appreciate it's horror aspects^^ Also you're in luck! I actually finished the third game already, and the fourth is in its beta :D

(+1)

did you do all the pixel art? it's absolutely gorgeous!

(many aspects of the game are gorgeous, but i'm partial to really nice pixel art. lol)

(1 edit)

Haha thank you for your kind words! But I have to be honest, it's a mix of default assets and things I found or bought on the internet. In my other games I add a few sprite edits, but so far it's still mostly from others, which is why the "resources" section of my credits is pretty long even though I made the game myself. (That being just for the pixel art though! I made custom art for the rest of the game like the pictures and dialogue boxes.) But I'll take it as a compliment anyway since you like how I put them to use XD And thank you for taking the time to comment and let me know, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

(+2)

Really fun and short game. I love horror games like this that change gradually as you progress. Keep up the good work and really looking forward to the next game!

Thank you so much for your kind words! This game was really fun to work on because of the odd changes, and with this particular character I didn't have to hold back on the weirdness XD And I've actually made two other games, and the fourth is in it's beta and coming soon!
