很好的游戏,就像我和桑哈特先生的奇妙冒险。(对不起,桑哈特先生,都是我的错,我害你经历了三次死亡。(ᇂ_ᇂ|||)

Great game. I'm going to play the rest of the games in this series.

(+1)

I love your series, I will play them all sure!

That's awesome, thank you so much!!! I'll go watch this let's play--and if you play my others, I'll be looking forward to those as well! I love your thumbnail design by the way, that's a really cool combination >:)

(+2)

I love this game series, and I really love your art style. I can't wait to see more of Thornhart's adventures.

My favorite bit was the room with all the trash, the story of how much authors pour themselves into their work was really touching. I really loved that, and I can always see how much love you pour into yours. Looking forward to seeing more of your work! <3

(+2)

Thank you very much for the kind words, I'm honored! I love it when players work hard to explore everything and uncover all the secrets, so good job finding the abandoned house and the note-and I'm thrilled you like it! I had fun writing it and leaning into the sort of obsessive side of creativity, and I think having places like that for things that would otherwise never make an appearance in the main story make the world feel more alive. I'm also glad to hear you're enjoying Thornhart's adventures-the next one's coming later this October! Hope to see you there ;)

(+2)

OMG i'm so excited!! A spooky month release!!!! AAAA!!!

You should find a drop shipping store and make merch, i would totally buy a Thornhart shirt  hahaha

(+1)

Aww, thanks! I don't have one yet but one day I want to, I'd order from my own store just to get a shirt of him as well XDDD I appreciate it though, and in the meantime, you're welcome to hang around my discord or twitter if you want! You can find the links on my main itch page.

(+2)

I'm sick too (not a reference at all), yet this game still brought me back to my senses. Wish it was longer!

You take your pills yet?

Haha but thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I will be adding sequels so even though this game is short, the story will continue!

(+2)

Well, that was a lot. I think Thornhart seems pretty cool [and unwell]

10/5

(+1)

Haha thank you so much XDDD I'm thrilled you enjoyed it so much, the next part is almost out and Thornhart's story is only just beginning >:3c

(+2)

The experience is amazing, i like how each other games are connected. I am also amazed by the name cuz it makes no senseat first, but after finishing the game i must admit it is the best possible name for the game.
I am really excited for another sequel!!!

(+1)

Thank you very much, I'm so glad you're invested in the story! And haha thanks, I tried to really set it apart-and by the time you're near the end and have forgotten all about it, the title drop makes the scene hit harder! I really appreciate the time you took to play my games and leave a kind comment, and I'm glad you're looking forward to the next one--I am too!

(+2)

This horror series is absolutely AMAZING! I love what you've created and I'm hoping this story continues on, I just played through all 3 games in one sitting, and I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for a new one to come out hopefully in the future :) Do you have plans on continuing this story? Much love <3

(+1)

Wow thank you so much, I'm so thrilled you love it!!! I'm glad you played all three and are invested in the overarching story, I've been planning and writing for it for a long time. Jesse's story is really important to me and I love having more people in on the fun XD Rest assured it's only the beginning-and in fact, you have great timing because I'm almost finished with the fourth game!

I played all three of your games (actually I haven’t finished this one just yet but I’m going to!) and I gotta say I enjoy them so much, love the unsettling atmospheres of them all but there’s one thing; I had no idea there were easter eggs until I started reading other people’s comments .-. I’m very bad at finding those XD

Anyway, when I saw that well in this game I was like “WAHH CONTINUITY!!!” which is funny because I already knew there was continuity, but something about the well just did it for me?

Also the fact that you can actually die in this one has me very scared and second guessing all of my actions (like I just walked over the poisonous flowers and now I almost feel like I should start over just in case XD)

I’m going to go back to playing this game now, but I already can’t wait for the next one! (When’s it coming out, around Halloween?)

Edit: As an afterthought I wanted to add that apart from the atmosphere, one of my favorite things about these games is how you're actually encouraged to look around at everything. I tend to explore things when I play games but sometimes it ends up feeling like a waste in the end, which I'm glad wasn't the case here since I felt like I was playing the game the "right" way in doing so. Still don't know how I didn't find the easter eggs though XD

Edit: Finished playing the game! Are we gonna get an explanation of that ending in the next one???

(+2)

Thank you so much for such a detailed comment, I appreciate the time and care that went into it! And no worries, the easter eggs were hidden very well on purpose-most people never find them on their own so you're not alone! I can give you a hint if you want :)

And I know what you mean about the continuity, I got the same feeling from reading comics sometimes! Like having the main character acknowledge it makes it more official, it was fun working that into this game-and haha so glad the deaths are making you think hard!!! Those are so fun to write and draw for, and I'm glad they're having such an impact! No need to restart, the flowers are fine-but glad you noticed that detail, it sets the stage for the Forest and what it's like in there!

Speaking of which, I'm so glad you're paying attention to all the story details in general! And yes, the fourth game is actually coming out in just a couple weeks! Forgive the plug, but you can stay updated on what I'm working on if you follow my twitter or tumblr XD (You can also just swing by to chat, I enjoy talking to my players^^)

And sort of? The ending has to do with a very important sub plot that will be explained not all at once, but piece by piece as the story unravels throughout the games! So it will make a little more sense in the fourth game but you'll still have plenty of questions unanswered >:3c

(+2)

I think I’m probably too lazy to try and find the easter eggs at this point XD Are they super important to the story, like am I missing out on something by not finding them? I’d much rather they were explained to me but I guess I could do with a hint.

I think the hardest part in this game in terms of thinking hard to like, SURVIVE, was probably the part where you have to navigate through the water and use the rocks. I don’t know why I had so much trouble there but I made Jesse drown so many times XD

Can’t wait for the next game, I look forward to learning a little more about that important sub-plot!

PS - I’m one of those rare people who isn’t on social media, but I’d totally follow you there if I was!

(1 edit)

---Spoilers ahead---

Don't worry, you're not missing out on much! Just little lore add-ons, if that makes sense! For your hint... try searching the trees in TWSTM! The codes are retroactive so you'll find one in the first game that you'll need to find the second game's secret and so on. (This stops at the fourth though.) And if you're not in the mood to search, you can always turn to youtube to check them out XDDD

As for the water, I think most players struggle in it so you're not alone! I was experimenting with puzzles and that one was more difficult than I intended... but congrats on beating it!

And thank you so much, I'm glad you're excited for it! I'm so close to finishing it so you won't have to wait long! (And haha no worries, I totally understand-and in fact, I respect people who stay out of social media... it can be a real life-ruiner these days if you're not careful. Still appreciate the sentiment just the same!)

(+1)

The game was fun, I did fumble a bit, especially when I ran straight off the tracks. I was surprised to find I could actually fall off. The story is an interesting development, especially with the forest seeming to be a monster in itself. The ending did confuse me, I was wondering if it meant most of the events were not real, or there was something deeper happening to the character.

I feel like the game takes a step away from the horror elements, there is still the creepiness with the murders and the forest. The gameplay feels more action based, with the exploration water walking and combat, while the creepier smaller interactions are not there.

The idea of where the story could go is still interesting, I just wish the game had some more of those creepier aspects the first two had, like if the monsters had more of a role within the game.

Look forward to the next game, and see where you take what is going on within the forest.

Wow, congratulations making it all the way to the end!!! (Well, the end SO FAR... the next one will be out in just a couple weeks!) That one did have some pretty brutal sections! And haha yeah, almost everyone falls off their first time! And no worries, the ending was supposed to be jarring-but the events are all real, it's about the second one-something wrong with Jesse. And sorry to hear it didn't scare you as much, I was rushed for a game jam deadline so I had to cut a few corners... but I learned from it, and the next one will definitely deliver on the scares! That said I'm glad you're still intrigued by the story, and thank you so much for playing through all of my games! That means a lot to me, and the hard work that goes into making the videos too! Can't wait to see you again with the fourth^^

(+2)

I'm really glad you enjoyed the videos! I really loved playing through the series and I am excited to see the next instalment! I'm so happy to hear the ending was there to throw the player; you've made such an intriguing universe, I'm glad you are not going the whole 'none of it was real' scenario. Ahhh I didn't realise this game was made for a game jam, it was still very good, it's just The Well Speaks to Me is simply one of my all time favourite RPGmaker horrors I've played, so you set yourself a very high bar :') Very excited to get to play #4 ^_^

(+2)

I played all of your games in a single night and forgot to showcase the video here UGH. Excellent stuff and a great dev!! Cannot WAIT for the fourth one.

(+1)

Thank you so much, I watched the video twice I loved it so much (once when it had just come out, but my comments were broken-and since I forgot what I was going to say, I returned to it tonight and went through it again)! Your commentary is so funny and entertaining, and you gave me some new insights on what to do to improve for future games-and what I'm already doing well! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support as well, I used it with some others just recently to get more game assets! Hope to see you again soon with my fourth game^^

(+1)

AWESOME! I can't wait.

(+1)

Me and my friend (who watched me play it) Love all 3 games so far! Checking out everything was fun in every game! I love checking out everything with my friend just shouting at me to go left when i don't know what left or right is! 10/10 Will patiently wait for the next game! And now me and my friend have an inside joke about this trilogy.

(+1)

Thank you so much-for playing them and for taking the time to let me know you enjoyed them! I’m glad to hear you had so much fun, that’s really encouraging for me as the developer! I’m working hard on the next game-and hey, if you wouldn’t mind explaining, I’m curious to hear what the joke is XD

(+1)

So me and my friend first played this (i played the games in order but later played them by random since my friend took interest in them) and got to know Jesse, Then we played TWSTM and idk what day it was but before it started it said "*insert number* Days until he..." And my friend said "Until he pisses in the well?" and we bursted out laughing before i added "JESSE. HE IS PISSING IN THE WELL." since then we laugh at the game. We love the game series but this joke makes it even better to play over and over again!

(+1)

Played the trilogy, I enjoyed this trilogy very much, good job!

Wow, the whole trilogy!? Thank you, I'm very happy to hear that!!!-and sorry I'm getting to this so late, time got away from me while I was working on the fourth game X-X But that's awesome, I'll go check out the video now!

Hey no worries, we do have lives outside of the internet, so youre good! cant wait to play the 4th game!

(+1)

Played through the whole trilogy, found each secret of each game, overall love the games, absolutely one of the more well made games on itch.io. Loved the fact that each game has it's own plot and mistery, with only main character of this game (who appeared in every game so far) and "Forest" being overraching elements.

The only complaint being the protagonist here being kinda a little too edgy to my liking, what with him possible being a murderer and some vague dark past.

Althought it is for some reason reminded me of the comic Bedlam, where the protagonist is a former serial and mass murderer, who was brainwashed into becoming a good guy.

Link to the TV Tropes page for the comic, if someone is interested - https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/ComicBook/Bedlam

Thank you very much!!! I'm thrilled that you went in and found all the secrets, that takes a lot of dedication and I'm always glad when someone investigates everything to get the full experience! Others could miss things like the books or even the painting and windows X-X But if I revealed all of it, that would take away the discovery, you know? So thank you-and thank you as well for the kind words! One of the more well made games on itch.io-that's quite the compliment, and very encouraging to hear as a small developer!

And haha fair enough on the edginess XD I kind of knew that going in, but... I'm keeping it anyway because it's fun! I can see your point of view though. (Also he and the Forest will be back for the fourth game as well, which will be done soon! Each game will be like another piece to a large puzzle.) But anyway, thank you so much for taking the time to play them all so thoroughly and to let me know your thoughts! I deeply appreciate it!

(+1)

He will be back as protagonist or there will be new protagonist?

And yeah, your games so far one of the best on itch.io, in part to being competently made. I like that you have a true dedication and passion towards your games.

As the protagonist, yeah! He'll be the main protagonist throughout the rest of the series. And thank you, I'm glad it shows in my work :D I'll keep doing my best!

(+1)

Lol got to say, created a whole account just to comment. Never the less though I had a blast playing this game! ^<^ And I got a good feeling this won't be the last time we see our good sir Thornhart. Anyways though, I wanna ask, what gave you the inspiration for the storyline? And will we be getting more games adding onto the storyline in the near future? <<

Thank you so much, I'm honored that you loved it enough to go to the trouble of making an account to let me know^^ The inspiration for the story actually came from a comic I drew years ago, combined with a cave setting because I'd been watching a lot of scary spelunking videos at that time XD (In the comic, the suturer was in the sewers.) And the fourth game is almost ready, and will star Jesse as the main character too! Each game is like a piece connecting in a larger puzzle, and I have plans for several more in the future. Once again, thank you for taking the time to comment-your words of encouragement mean a lot to me :)

(+2)

my whole attention went to the mushrooms at the start of the game that you could pick up. T H E Y    L O O K E D     S O   S U S P I C I O U S .

Haha you can actually eat them from the menu-but they poison you, potentially to death XD

(+1)

knew it. mushrooms cannot be trusted.

(+2)

super awesome unbelievably cool!!! great job!

Thank you!!! I'm glad you played all the way to my third game and enjoyed it :D

(+1)

Okay, it's driving me crazy, I gotta ask. I found the easter egg in TWSTM, and where to put the code in this game, but I couldn't for the life of me find where to put the code in TWFTW. I even cracked and searched to see if I could find a hint about where it might be, and saw someone mention Room 8, and at least two people say they found a 'padlock' but didn't know what to do with it. How did people find it by accident, but I couldn't for the life of me find it on purpose? This code is burning a metaphorical hole in my pocket, and I know just where to go in LVBTT. I swear I spent over an hour touching everything it room 8, I'm gonna lose my mind. Please have mercy and point me in the right direction.

Oh wow, I really appreciate the dedication to finding all of it! That's amazing!!! As far as the one in TWFTW, one of my players said they found it in the earlier versions but it wasn't there after the update, which is weirding me out since I don't remember messing with it at all but I'm going to take a look and fix it, I promise XD It used to be in one of the drawers of that desk in room 8, so you probably looked in the right place and it's totally not your fault it's gone! Would you like to wait until I patch it to see for yourself, or would you like me to tell you what was in it right now? And once again, thank you for looking so thoroughly through my games, I really appreciate it! There's so much of the experience that people miss out on by rushing through, but if I forced players to see everything then that would take the discovery out of it.

Update: Fixed it! (And made the LVBTT one more interesting.) Please download the TWFTW and LVBTT again-sorry for the inconvenience, but I hope it's worth it!

(+2)

Hi, I know you said the order of play doesn't matter but is the chronological order of the 3 games the same as how they were released? Great job, keep it up!

(+1)

Yes it is! I should have made that clearer, sorry about that! XD I'll edit their pages to fix it. And thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying them! (And I will keep it up-the fourth one is in it's beta and will be uploaded here soon!)

(+1)

hey, everytime i try to open the game i get to the loading screen but then it says failed to load image.twitter.png and retrying just yields the same results. know any way i can fix this? i love your other games and i'm excited to play the new (ish lol) installment :)

(+1)

Oh no! Which version is it? I was only able to playtest the windows version because that's the computer I have but I can still try to fix it!  And thank you, I appreciate your kind words and letting me know!

(+1)

sorry for the late reply! its the mac version. i'm gonna try again now and if i can open it i'll reply to this again!

(+1)

ah, now the window just keeps quitting but won't give me an error message or anything.  if you find a way to fix it please let me know, i'm dying to play it! i love rpg horror so i was super happy when i found your trilogy!

Thank you so much for trying! I'm very sorry it isn't working for you. I'm not an expert on how the software works, but from what I can find, it looks like RPG Maker's exports work differently across certain versions of Mac due to updates and support issues... And it sounds like you have an unsupported version. I will try to find a way around this, but in the meantime, I recommend trying an unbottler! I've heard those can help with Mac compatibility. Once again, I appreciate your interest and thank you for letting me know what's going wrong so I can try to fix it! My future games, including one that will be out in just a couple of weeks, will be made with RPG Maker MZ which works on Mac os 10.13 or better, if you have that.

(+1)

i don't know what changed but i finally got it to work! thanks for all your help, i'm excited to finally be able to play it! :)

(+1)

I played the Well Speaks to me ..so i had to try this one:) I expected to be more scary lol

(+1)

Just watched the video earlier and I love your commentary! Once again, thank you so much for playing another one of my games :D It starts a little slow while it sets up the scene, but there will be a couple more scares later-though, probably not as scary as TWSTM in the end, because I was going for something different here. Still, I hope you enjoy! (And stick around after the credits ;) Really looking forward to part 2!

(+1)

(I have never posted a comment on itch before so forgive me if I don't know what im saying lol) I love everything about this game, the story is really interesting and the art is amazing! I don't really know what else to say but that after-credits scene is just chefs kiss.

Thank you so much for posting here to let me know!!! I'm so thrilled you enjoyed my game, and I love your video! Great job beating the puzzles and making it all the way to the end-and thanks, that scene was my favorite to work on XD There's just something really fun about writing broken characters...

(+3)

Another fantastic entry in this series, it was good to finally get to know Jesse and the new environment was really interesting to explore. Art was wonderful as usual, I love how many illustrated scenes there were in this one, and the story was really engaging. At first I thought the story ended a little suddenly, but then that after-credits scene hit and WOW! That was amazing, gave me some similar scares to the first game. I'm conflicted now; I want to see more of this series and I'm curious about the real power behind the forest, but I almost don't want it to be explained because now there's a cosmic horror vibe to it. So good!

I've had so much fun with this series and I can't wait to see what you come up with next, you've quickly become one of my new favourite developers.

(+2)

Thank you so much!!! And haha, I did have a lot of fun writing that last scene! Crazy stuff like that is my favorite to work with. As far as the story goes, each game I make is like one more piece to the puzzle, so you can play and get more information without worrying that the whole thing will be spoiled for a long time to come. The story I have planned is massive-it actually started as a book series I was writing! I always thought I would publish the books first, but when the competition came I stepped up to the challenge of making a game and here we are now XD

Thank you for playing all my games and for stopping by to write the kind and detailed comments! Things like this really make my day :) And getting to hear how people react to my games is so thrilling, it makes those crunch times worth it! I'm so glad you enjoyed these games, and I'll keep doing my best going forward and making new ones. And if you want to stay in touch while I work on the next game, we can chat on Twitter or Discord any time!

(1 edit) (-1)

Ugh, I thought it was mobile's

Try the folder labelled (Android) at the end! I think it works for iphones too if you use one of those, but that's the mobile version :)

(-1)

It's missing an APK file

Ok, I'll try to fix that! Thanks for letting me know!

(+2)

is this a series? I mean, the last two games has the same protag, i would like to see you naming the series and have the titles like: X1 - The Well Speaks To Me, X2 - The Well Speaks To Me, X3, etc

(+1)

Oh, sorry if the order's confusing! Even though Jesse makes brief appearances in the endings of the other two games, you play as a different character each game. This game (the third one) was the first where you actually play as Jesse, and so far the order you play them in doesn't matter much, but The Well Speaks To Me is technically the first game and They Watch From The Walls is the second game. Hope that helps! In the future, I'll try to make the order more apparent XD

(+2)

I really would like to translate your game into Turkish. The game has a great story. If you want to contact me , you can send me an e-mail. Here is my e-mail address: enginben123@gmail.com

(+1)

Thank you so much, that's awesome! I'm currently doing my first translation project for another one of my games, but if translating works out well, I'll be sure to contact you later when I'm free!

(+2)

I will be looking forward to your contact with me. And if you want, I would like to translate all your games in Turkish. :)

(+1)

All three? Thank you so much!!! It's a lot of effort so thank you for being willing to help so much, that's really special! When I'm ready to get started (after the one I've started in Portuguese), I'll get in contact with you and we can talk more about it.

(+1)

I will be looking forward to your contact. And I hope you complete the Portuguese translation successfully :))

(+2)

This has a really nice horror element to it. I was really freaked out at the end when the main character walked into a forest of... bodies. The deaths are sudden and somehow I find it funny XD. Maybe a part 2? :)

(+1)

Thank you so much for playing my game!!! I absolutely loved how you got into character for the cutscenes, especially the part where Maigata talks about how "Only a madman would want to go deeper into the Forest..." And good job solving all the puzzles and making it all the way to the end! I enjoyed this video very much :D

(+2)

It's a nice game and it has great pacing to it as well. Story is fairly decent as well. I kinda wish we got to know the lore about the mastermind a bit more before the end though.

Here's my channel for other games I have played. http://www.youtube.com/c/Levont

(+2)

Great job, you beat the game and only died in the water section! I loved getting to see your reactions to everything, especially the second-to-last room! And I'm glad you turned the video back on for the post credits scene, that was one of my favorite parts to make! I enjoyed this video a lot, thank you so much for playing my game :D

...And if you're curious, there are 3 other ways to die with little cutscenes and another house you could check out at night ;) Once again, thanks for playing my short horror game!

(+1)

I like the main's hair :) and the arts overall

you may notice some problems with the language in this game, ex: 11:50 and 19:35, just remind ya to fix it in general, maybe there are still language errors in the late game
btw how do i save the game?

Wow, I enjoyed your video so much! Thank you for playing my game!!! I love how you got into character for the dialogue, especially that part when Jesse shouts "ENOUGH!" I could really feel the emotion behind it there coming to life! And you're carefully searching everything too, and your commentary is hilarious XD Eagerly looking forward to part 2!

As for your questions, the save system comes in checkpoints, and unfortunately you stopped just a few minutes before the first one comes so you might have to replay that section, but it should go really quickly this time since you know where the right house is and you can skip dialogue by holding down the space button. I fixed the spelling errors you mentioned and a few other things in an update last night, including a section later on that's brutally difficult. So if you want a really hard challenge you can keep the current version, but if you want the patched version, just download it again. It's up to your preference!

Thank you so much!!! It makes me so happy to see you enjoyed it and want to explore all the secrets! Unfortunately there aren’t multiple endings in this game, but there will be in future games and there were 2 in my last game! As far as the chest goes, it’s actually part of a weird secret hunt I started in the first game (so the first game has the code for the second game, and the second game for the third) but I can tell you the code instead if you want! And yes, that was me XD

Alright, awesome! I have to warn you though, it’ll be really hard to find. But now you’ll know about the “incident” he referenced with the well! And haha thanks! ^^ yeah, it is pretty fun to make XD And if you do need a hint or something about where to find it, just let me know!

(+2)

I love player interaction, so feel free to drop me a comment! It can be about a glitch that needs fixing, a question you have, or even just to say hi! I respond to all comments as fast as I can :)

(+1)

Will you make a mac version?

(+1)

Oh yeah! I’ll do that but just to warn you, i can’t play test it but it works for some versions and not others. At least that’s what happened with the other games
